Advanced Planning Session

Sign up for a one-hour “Advanced Planning” session to determine your best options for developing into a competitive candidate within the time-frame that works best for you. Our recommendation is that you complete a planning session two times a year prior to being in the application process. Usually for younger undergraduate students who are not yet in the application cycle or unsure of which application cycle would work best for them.

If you are planning to apply to medical, dental, or other health profession school sometime in the future and you are currently planning and working on your pre-requisite courses and deciding which extra-curricular experiences would be best for you.

Steps to Consider:

Sign up for a one-hour “Advanced Planning” session where we will cover all of the steps outlined, as well as address any other questions or concerns you have that are affecting your planning process.

If you are planning to apply to medical, dental, or other health profession school within the next year,
steps to consider:

First

Determine the best application cycle for you:
  • Is this the best time for me to apply?
  • What are my strengths as an applicant right now?
  • What key areas do I want to improve prior to my application?

Sign up for a one-hour Diagnostic” session to determine your current level of preparedness for the next application cycle.

Second

When you decide you are applying within the next year:
  • Can you write effectively about your areas of strength you wish to highlight in the application process?
  • What main points do you want to emphasize in your application?
  • What specific experiences do you most want to highlight in your materials?
As you start preparing your application materials, it will be easier if you have identified specific areas where you excel and areas of growth. It is difficult to put your experiences in writing without this focus. Sign up for a one-hour “Get Focused” session to determine specific talents you bring as a competitive applicant.

Third

When you understand your strengths and talents in relation to the application process, you are ready to begin writing your materials.
Writing about your experiences in your application:

  • Are your descriptions compelling?
  • Does your writing flow well and draw the reader in?
  • Is your writing more than just a re-telling of your past history?

Sign up for 2 one-hour “Getting My Best Self on Paper” sessions to focus on compelling writing about your activities and plans. In the first session, we will review your current descriptions and have suggestions for improvement for your re-writes. Once you have re-written your material, we will schedule a second review session to offer suggestions on tweaking your material.

Fourth

Once you have a clearer understanding of your strengths and are able to get this across in your writing, then you are ready to focus on talking about yourself in a practice interview. Speaking effectively about your experiences:
  • Are you able to speak confidently and clearly about your strengths and goals?
  • Do you understand the profession you are entering?
  • Would you make an excellent practitioner?
Sign up for a one-hour “Art of the Interview” session to do a practice interview and receive focused and honest feedback on your ability to represent yourself well in an interview setting.

This whole experience has been wonderful in preparing me for my application process to medical school...Your advice was so beneficial and I appreciate the thought you put into it. I have already begun modifying my personal statement and preparing more interview material to make myself a better applicant using what I learned in the interview.
